More Interesting Facts About Our Pastor
In December 1957, Pastor Gilbert joined Tabernacle Baptist Church through baptism. He was a member of the choir and later became President of Choir #2, where he is considered an “honorary” member of this wonderful choir.
He is joined in Holy matrimony to Ms. Nannie Cannon, his beautiful wife of over 50 years. To this union, they were blessed with four children. True to his calling and commitment to do God’s work, Rev. Gilbert served as interim Pastor of two Primitive Baptist churches- St. Eli and Mt. Paran. He was appointed to serve as Coordinator of an outreach prison ministry for the State of Tennessee Prison System, known as the “Free World Service.”
Later, he would serve as Pastor of two Missionary Baptist churches: Greater Hebrew Missionary Baptist and Hall Memorial Missionary Baptist.
On June 18, 1994, James A. Gilbert, Sr. was installed as Pastor of Hall Memorial Missionary Baptist Church
To date, Pastor Gilbert has been blessed with bringing many to Christ through baptism, spiritual counseling, teachings, and joining many couples in Holy matrimony. Pastor Gilbert’s calling and commitment reflects his true love for Christ in every aspect of his life. His greatest desire is to live a life that is exemplary and pleasing to the Lord through spreading the gospel and bringing lost souls to salvation.
